FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are you affiliated with a church?
No. We are a separate non-profit organization and responsible to our own Board of Directors.

Do you have a dress code?
Yes. Students wear solid color polo shirts with navy blue, black, or khaki pants, shorts, or skorts. Clean, neat jeans are also acceptable. Athletic shoes are required for PE five times a week. There are no requirements for jackets or sweaters, but HERITAGE ACADEMY sweatshirts are available for purchase.

What time does school start in the morning?
Our Circle Prayer time begins at 8:25am and parents are welcome to join us. Class begins promptly at 8:30am.
What is your discipline policy?
We believe that children should be respectful at all times and that they should honor the directions given by the teacher or other HERITAGE ACADEMY adult. When there is a problem, we immediately try to discover if it was disobedience or mere childhood irresponsibility. Childhood irresponsibility is handled through re-training and re-directing. Deliberate disobedience could lead to a teacher “conference” with the child or children, an appropriate time-out, an apology (either verbal or written), a call home, and if needed, a conference with the student, the parents and the principal.

Do you have after-school care?
Yes. Extended Day Care (EDC) is available from 1:30-2:45pm and 2:45 –5:30pm for an additional charge. The Way to Go Program is run by Mrs. Luckie Leiva. There are clubs, piano and violin lessons, sports, and art projects. It is much more than babysitting or study hall.

Do you have a hot lunch program?
Yes. Hot lunch can be ordered Monday-Friday. Three healthy choices are provided and lunch is delivered directly to the school. Orders are placed and paid for at the beginning of every month.

Do you have a PE and sports program?
We offer a structured PE class 5 times weekly for grades K-6. Skills, games, strategy and fun are included.

How can parents participate?
We love having parents on campus helping with class, cooking, art, and science projects, helping in the office and with “clean-up/move out” on Fridays, occasional grading, and with parties. We welcome parents to become involved as room parents or aids, field trip organizers and drivers.

Do you have a Board of Directors?
Yes, the principal is responsible to a Board of Directors. The Board oversees policy and finances.

Do you accept donations?
Yes. HERITAGE ACADEMY is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation and any donations are fully tax deductible.
